Mystical Dimensions of Islam in Pakistan and Turkey Relations

Mr. Suat Erguvan, Vice President, Rumi Forum presented a paper at the one-day seminar, “Mystical Dimensions of Islam in Pakistan and Turkey Relations” on November 25, 2013. Organized by the Department of Sociology, Quaid-e-Azam University in collaboration with the Win Publishers, the seminar explored the constructive and inspirational message of the saints and Sufis in the Subcontinent and Turkey to promote transnational understanding and perpetual hope for peace and faith.

Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Erguvan provided a tour d’horizon by introducing¬†the Anatolian Sufis and saints such as Jalaluddin Rumi, Yunus Emre, and Haci Bayram-i Veli whose message he also interlinked with the messages of the Sufis of the Subcontinent such as Ali bin Usman Al Hajveri, Khwaja Moin ud din Chishti, Sultan Baho and Baba Bulleh Shah.

Among the speakers were Dr. Nazir Saeed, Federal Secretary of Ministry of Information, Broadcasting & National Heritage; Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Vice Chancellor, Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad; Hon. Mr. Sadik Babur Girgin, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Pakistan; and Maj. Rtd. Ghazanfar Abbas Farooqi Vice Principal (Boys), Army Public School, Rawalpindi.
